Zero to Sixty

Starting a Course
So I bought the Earnest Affiliate course about a week ago and I’ve been diligently following the directions in it.  The first module explains what is the definition of affiliate marketing.  The first time I heard the word in the context of my business was about 2 weeks ago.  I write a blog for my business Amusing Violet and one of the comments on my blog was someone asking for my affiliate link to my web hosting since it was uploading so fast.  I can put two and two together and figure out he wanted some kind of coupon code or secondly to give me credit for a referral so I was intrigued.  I had just heard the word from JohnnyFD in the context of his online business ventures.

Serendipity
I don’t believe there are accidents in the universe.  For me to hear the term affiliate marketing twice when I was working on researching online business models was serendipitous to me.  That’s when I researched JohnnyFD some more and figured he sold a course on affiliate marketing.  The course was only $197 which is a bargain compared to the other courses.

Honesty
Next module one explains that honest is the best policy when affiliate marketing.  He has a pledge but I didn’t find it hokey.  I want to be an honest entrepreneur and give lots of value to my customers no matter what I am doing.  So I’m in!

Investing the Time
The third step in module one is an explanation of the investment in time that has to occur in order for affiliate marketing to work.  As I explained in the previous blog, I am disabled and keeping a regular job is almost impossible for me.  But, I have the knack for writing, especially if I can do it on my own timetable.  So here I go…

Affiliate Marketing
The course goes on to explain that affiliate marketing is basically providing links in your writing that offer coupons or discounts to your customers.  You get paid a referral fee if they buy the product or service.  Sometimes there are no discounts to your customers so that is why you have to provide value in the form of an informative blog.

Evaluating Where I Went Wrong in the Past
I have written about 5 blog posts on my Amusing Violet website.  I have dedicated readers on my Amusing Violet blog that compliment me on how informative the blog is to them.  I have to take the compliment at face value.  I worked hard on the blogs and the only reason that I did not write more often is because I didn’t know how to monetize the blogs.  Thanks to JohnnyFD, I have a business model that he has helped make successful.

Hard Work and Discipline
I’ve been taking all the advice from the course very seriously.  I follow step-by-step so that I can recreate the business that JohnnyFD has made successful.  It’s not that easy.  It’s obvious that Johnny worked extremely hard.  I have the capacity to work hard, but the discipline he shows has been amazing.

Valuable Lesson
It’s a valuable lesson.  I am going to be disciplined in writing my blogs for a year and evaluate where my business is then.  But, Johnny is crystal clear.  You have to invest time.  You have to give value.  Which I understand to mean do the research for people; be honest; save people time, and give them a reason to come back by being entertaining.

Assets
As I mentioned, in previous blogs.  The biggest asset I have is time.  I am going to use it to the best of my ability.  The second greatest asset I have is writing skills.  I am going to be as disciplined as possible and write as many as three blogs a week.  My third great asset is that I have am a social media manager and understand how to promote things on social media with a little investment.

The Blogs
I decided that I was going to continue to blog for my social media site, Amusing Violet just focus the writing more on business advice.  I am going to refresh the blog in the coming weeks.  I need some technical assistance with that.  I am also going to start a cooking blog called Burning Agua.  A blog about my journey from burning water to being a great cook.  In addition, I am going to start a personal journey blog just like JohnnyFD’s blog so that my audience keeps me accountable to myself.  The Yolanda Ortega blog.

The Real work
I’m currently building the new sites they are almost ready to go.  I’ve learned to build websites pretty quickly.  They look great so far and the plugins really add something special.  I decided against logos for now since I can’t’ afford them anyway.  But they have a certain charm without them.  However, the real work begins with writing three blogs a week and social media to promote them.

Zero to Sixty!
I’m ready to go and poised to earn success in my life.  I hope that my readers keep me accountable.  Please offer any tips oh how to stay motivated in the comments below.  I appreciate any advice I can get.  Whew!  Zero to Sixty!
